The Sunapee Boys’ soccer team secured a convincing 3-0 victory over the visiting Newmarket Mules on Friday to end their regular season and secure a home playoff game on Wednesday against the Colebrook Mohawks. This was another tough game for the Lakers, but they were able to adjust their speed of play, hold their defensive line, and employ attacking tactics to find space and time to score.
Senior Matthew Tschudin opened the scoring twelve minutes into the game with an assist by junior Mason Sailer. The Lakers kept up high speed play and meaningful passes until junior Sam Kress notched the second goal in the 25th minute of the half , which again was assisted by Sailer. In the second half Mason Sailer scored one of his own on an assist from Sam Kress. The rest of the game the Lakers kept control as seniors Conner Ryba, Deklan Peirce and Cam Messenger were a brick wall defending in the back. Balls out of the air were won and distributed, and the defensive stalwarts prevented balls through the middle. Overall, the Lakers out shot their opponents and secured a win in their last regular season game. This win finishes a successful Laker season with a record to 10-3-3 as they head into the play-offs.
