Concord, New Hampshire - Under the lights on Friday, the boys’ varsity soccer team suffered their first loss of the season against Concord Christian Academy and now stand at 1-1-2 heading into a busy week.
The first half of the game was a highly contested battle between both teams. Both teams had opportunity after opportunity but couldn’t find the back of the net. Senior Jonah Flint had an outstanding game with several clutch saves to keep the Lakers at 0-0 draw at halftime. The Lakers defense was strong and played balls quickly and fast out of the air. The defense is led by seniors, Cameron Messenger and Conner Ryba.
In the second half, Concord Christian scored the only goal 15 minutes into the second half. A miscommunication among the Lakers punished them in the end.
“We had a few chances tonight, but we have to hand it to Concord Christian.  They played a very solid game keeping us on our heels often. We will need to figure out the scoring problem in the next few games.” said Sunapee coach, coach Ike. After postponement of a Monday game against Wilton-Lyndeborough High School. The boys’ varsity soccer team will travel to Woodsville on Thursday.
