Epping, New Hampshire -
The Sunapee varsity boys’ soccer team traveled to play against the Epping blue devils on Tuesday, and might I say it was their best game yet! Previously in the season the boys had tied 0-0 to Epping at home; so when traveling to Epping the Lakers thought it was going to be a tough, hard fought game.
In the first half senior Matthew Tschudin scored in the 38th minute by bending in a corner kick that the Epping keeper couldn't get a hold of. It looked like junior Mason Sailer had the second goal right at the end of the half, but during the intermission the refs pulled it back stating the ball did not cross the line before the ending whistle blew.
However, the scoring didn't stop there. The Epping blue devils scored two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to take the lead 2-1. The Lakers fired back and in the 16th minute senior center back Deklan Peirce came up on a corner kick and got his body on the ball to eke it into the corner thus tying the game. Then Matthew Tschudin put in the go ahead goal in the 19th minute with an assist from junior Sam Kress. The Burner was on and the Lakers kept going, Tschudin would go on to score 2 more goals. Junior Sam Kress scored a corker as well, one timing a crossing pass from Tschudin.
A big win of 6-2 is hopefully the start of something nice end to the season where they will play against Newmarket, and Woodsville later on to who they have previously lost or tied to. The Lakers are now 8-3-2 on the season. The Lakers will play their next game against Newmarket. Game time is to be determined.
