Newmarket, New Hampshire - The girls’ varsity soccer team traveled away on Friday to face their hardest opponent of the season, the Newmarket Mules. The Lady Lakers came out and pressured their defense hard.
The first half was a strong battle between both teams, and the first half ended in a 0-0 draw. Both teams were eager to score goals.  In the second half both teams came out stronger. Excellent tackles from junior Izzy Correa and senior Brie Hughlock kept our Lady Lakers afloat. A fast ard twenty minutes kept the score 0-0, until a foul in the Lady Lakers end cost them a goal. However, the Lady Lakers didn’t let up and ended up scoring a goal off another free kick from senior Elizabeth Tschudin. The second half ended in a 1-1 tie.
In the first overtime the Lady Lakers kept the score 1-1. Junior Sophie Bourque tracked back and kept Newmarket to limited crosses from the outside. Senior Calla Baker tackled hard and kept the ball in front as outside back. Junior goalie Annaliese Rowel consistently made great saves and conducted great passes out of the back.
