The boys’ junior varsity soccer team lost a close home game 4-3 against Kearsarge on Thursday making their record 3-2-1. In the first half the JV boys had clinical touches where they were able to find the back of the net twice with goals from sophomore Malik Nasir to give them an early 2-0 lead. After surrendering a goal to the Cougars, eighth grader Sam Holobowicz finished on a penalty kick and continued to have tough and aggressive defensive play to go into the half 3-1.
In the second half, Kearsarge came out with the will to win and played harder and faster than the Lakers. The Lakers ran out of gas in the second half and lost 4-3. Freshman Grayson Spears said, “We did very well in the first half, but we started getting tired too fast in the second half. Our defense struggled to clear balls out of the back.” The boys’ junior varsity soccer team will play away against Franklin.
