Hanover, New Hampshire - The girls’ junior varsity soccer team traveled to play against Hanover on Thursday. The Lady Lakers came out with a slow pace and a lack of intensity losing  5-0 against a talented Hanover team. A bright spot for the Lakers was junior goalkeeper Madi Hughes who had some outstanding saves in net, and the outside backs tracked and marked Hanover players well. Eighth grader Kaitlyn Andersen did a great job running the field, and junior Olivia Murgatroy did a great job communicating and helping her teammates. The Lady Lakers hope to finish off the season with a win as they host their final game of the season against Derryfield on Monday.

Hopkinton, New Hampshire - On Thursday, the Lady Lakers junior varsity dropped a 5-1 match to Hopkinton. Slow movement from the Laker attack resulted in some effective Hopkinton counter attacks early in the game. However, our Lady Lakers started to pass through the middle to the outsides and up to the forwards as the game progressed.   Junior Madison Hughes had some great saves in the first half and distributed the ball well. Junior Sienna Regean notched the lone goal for Sunapee to put them on the board. Sophomore Lilly Kelleher created many opportunities with her attack towards goal, and almost netted a few. Junior defender Olivia Murgatroy stopped Hopkinton outside backs from gaining the edge to cross it in. She kept the ball in front and laid it to her midfield. Although the Lady Lakers lost, the coaches have been pleased with the continued improvement and effort. They will come back to play against Fall Mountain Regional High School on Wednesday at 4.

Sunapee, New Hampshire –  The girls’ junior varsity soccer team played their second game of the season against Claremont at home on Wednesday. From the blow of the whistle, the Lady Lakers got off to a slow start. They eventually started to move on and off the ball better and it led to a few opportunities. They ended the half with a few goals against them as Claremont was successful finding the back of the net.     The Lady Lakers' spirits were lifted entering the second half. Their “craft” got better and slowly regained the always known Sunapee Soccer. Junior Goalie, Jenna Carron had a dozen point blank saves, and a PK save to keep Stevens to a lower scoring second half. The Lady Lakers eventually created more opportunities and chances; Eighth grader Kaitlyn Andersen had the lone goal for the evening. However, sadly our Lady Lakers fell short after a tough, fought battle against Claremont Stevens 6-1.     “There was a lack of focus, but there were a lot of improvements in the second half in terms of the passing and movement.” says Coach Dalton. They are hoping to use this game as a learning opportunity and use this for future reference against their upcoming opponent, Franklin.

Lakers Lost to a stronger Mascoma Royals team on a hot afternoon in Enfield in preseason action.   The Royals jumped on the scoreboard early when the Lakers defense lost their focus.  The Lakers bounced back holding the Royals scoreless for 40 more minutes before the experience Royals knocked in 2 more goals.  The final minute culminated in Stopper Addie Reed fouling a Royal in the penalty area.  Laker Keeper Jenna Carron put up a fight between the pipes but it was not enough to stop 4th goal from slipping past.
