Junior Varsity Boys Close Season at 3-5-1

Lakers Lose: -
Hanover, New Hampshire -
The boys’ junior varsity soccer team traveled to Hanover for a rematch on Thursday. Unfortunately, the odds were not in their favor. The Lakers came out flat, and Hanover came out strong with the will to win. The Lakers couldn't get a hold of their attack and struggled to find the outside of the field. When the Lakers did find the ball, they attacked heavy and centered minded which created a few opportunities to score. The Lakers' strikers put heavy pressure on Hanover’s defense to try to win the ball, but it wasn’t enough. The Lakers took a big loss of 6-0. The Lakers finished the season 3-5-1. Although the outcome of the season was not what they had hoped for, the Lakers were able to learn from their mistakes and start learning faster speed of play. The Lakers had a great season and will be ready for the Winter sports.

The boys’ junior varsity soccer team lost a close home game 4-3 against Kearsarge on Thursday making their record 3-2-1. In the first half the JV boys had clinical touches where they were able to find the back of the net twice with goals from sophomore Malik Nasir to give them an early 2-0 lead. After surrendering a goal to the Cougars, eighth grader Sam Holobowicz finished on a penalty kick and continued to have tough and aggressive defensive play to go into the half 3-1.
In the second half, Kearsarge came out with the will to win and played harder and faster than the Lakers. The Lakers ran out of gas in the second half and lost 4-3. Freshman Grayson Spears said, “We did very well in the first half, but we started getting tired too fast in the second half. Our defense struggled to clear balls out of the back.” The boys’ junior varsity soccer team will play away against Franklin.

Hopinkton, New Hampshire - The boys played against Hopinkton on Thursday. It was a tough start, the boys let an early goal determine the game. The Lakers tried to connect passes and spread their attack, but Hopinkton came out strong and didn't lose momentum. Sophomore Tyler Kelly had a few shots on goal, and Senior Jack Holobowicz played great defense to help push the ball up the field. Howevver, the Lakers couldn't find their touches. They lost 5-0. Hopkinton jumped on the board quickly with a goal and just didn’t stop. Boys played hard and had opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net.
The Lakers are looking to get back and work on their "craft". They will play Fall Mountain Regional High school next week to hopefully gain another win.

Sunapee, New Hampshire - The boys’ junior varsity soccer team played against Franklin on Wednesday. They Won 5-2. Boys went down 1-0 in the first couple minutes, but bounced back with goals by sophomore Tyler Kelly, eighth grader Sam Holobowicz, and sophomore Malik Nasir. Junior Ben Gross played a great game in goal, and continued to have amazing saves throughout the game. As a team they are seeing some great improvement and great strength.
Next they play against Hopinkton away on Thursday. This game will likely be their toughest competitor yet! Come support your Lakers at their next game!

Claremont, New Hampshire - The boys’ junior varsity soccer team had an outstanding game away against Stevens on Monday winning 3-1. They passed well, marked well and had a number of opportunities on goal from the attack.
The Lakers attacked in stride and their defense cleared balls out of the last third. Junior goalie Ben Gross made great saves to keep the Lakers going. Simple passing and communication helped senior Reece Williams put in the first goal, and eighth grader Sam holobowiczs rebounded to finish one in the first half.
In the second half, freshman Jasper Knapp played the second half of the game in goal making some big saves. Intense play and effort lead to another goal from Owen sailer. However, half way through the second half Claremont found the back of the net.
“Overall, great team effort”, said Coach Krause. Another big win for the Lakers makes them number one in their standings. The boys will play Hopkinton away on Thursday!

Sunapee, New Hampshire - Under the lights, the boys’ junior varsity soccer team ended their second game with a gratifying win against Stevens on Wednesday.
The boys made great strides on the field, and had solid movements around Stevens. Connecting passes and finding feet was successful in the boys 3-1 win. Junior Mason Sailor with two goals and sophomore Tyler Kelly with one goal. Good things are in store for this JV squad, we can’t wait to hear about their next game against Franklin on Wednesday, August 7th away at 4:30.
